The OSPF Opaque LSA Option

Google
RFC 2370The OSPF Opaque LSA Option  was written by R. Culton in July 1998. Here I'm trying to make a brief summary of this document.

Opaque LSAs are a new class of link-state advertisement (LSA). They provide a generalized mechanism to allow OSPF extensions. Opaque-LSAs consist of a standard LSA header followed by a 32-bit aligned application-specific information field. Like any other LSA, it uses the LS-database distribution mechanism for flooding information throughout the OSPF domain. The scope of the flooding will be defined by the Opaque-LSA type.
